At first, can you introduce yourself and tell us in few words  your own career ?

RedRum: Ahoy! I'm Commodore RedRum and I play the timber-n-twine (guitar) for the pirate thrash trio Swashbuckle! Aye, I've been into metal music for many a moon. Some of the first great acts I was into were the likes of Metallica, Megadeth, and Ozzy.

What are your own favorite styles and  influences  ?

RedRum: From there it spread to all sorts of different styles of metal, lots of thrash shit like Exodus and Testament, to Gothenburg stuff like In Flames and Dark Tranquillity, to even power metal like Blind Guardian. Other greats at the top of my list are Arch Enemy, Korpiklaani, Kalmah, and Ensiferum.

About the band :

RedRum: Argg, the other scum dogs in the band also got into music at a very young age. Admiral Nobeard, who hands vocals and bass, has always been into old school thrashy shit like M.O.D., Anthrax and the like. Captain Crashride on drums had more of a punk upbringing. We pirates listen to just about everything, so theres a shitton of influences going into our music.

Which artist you work with or you worked with impress(ed) you the most ?

RedRum: We haven't had the opportunity to work with many big artists yet, as we're still pretty new to whole being on a big time label thing. We've done extensive work with Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal from Gun 'n Roses. He saw us thrashin' in a little dive bar in Jersey a few years back and has been a great friend and awesome dude ever since. He did two guest solos on our upcoming album 'Back to the Noose' on Nuclear Blast Records which came out fucking killer. He also did a bit of stuff engineering the sound on the whole album. Aye, we owe B-Foot many thanks and many pints.

What about your promotion work and your relation with press at the moment ? Do you get a good feed back about your
Back To The Noose new album ?

RedRum: Ahh, the kickass staff at Nuclear Blast has been taking such good care of us in this department! They are a pleasure to work with and have been getting us into a bazillion outlets and we pirates couldn't be more floored. The press has been all positive. Most people who have heard the album have had nothing but great things to say about it. Its a fast, aggressive, crushing statement in nautical nonsense.

What’s the mood of it ? What would you say to make people listen to it and buy it ?

RedRum: Its just good old school fast thrash music with a few death metal twists, some panty-droppin' sea shanties thrown in for good fun, and a whole mess of high-seas hijinx all blended together to form a record of unparalled piratical proportion.

Where do you find your inspiration for music and lyrics ?

RedRum: We take inspiration from all our sea faring adventures, our lives of pillage and plunder, and pen them into brutal songs.

What’s your favorite new track ? Why ?

RedRum: Personally, I'm partial to the final thrash track on the record, "IT CAME FROM THE DEEP!". It's about the coming of a giant apocalyptic sea beast who wants to devour the world that we pirates three must face to save the planet. It's the definition of epic.

Do you think you will bring something new in music with your new cd ?

RedRum: A sense of rollicking fun and good times. So many bands take themselves way too seriously these days. Swashbuckle's all about having a jolly good metal time, with tasty brews and busty wenches! Let the piratical good times roll.

Will you be touring soon and what can the audience expect from you on stage ?

RedRum: Aye, we'll be back in Europe for the Paganfest II Tour which runs from September 11th till October 3rd. The audience can expect to have their faces ripped off by an intense display of raw pirate power Check out our myspace for all the dates ya dirt merchants!
