10 QUESTIONS TO
(lead guitar and backing vocals)
At first, can you introduce yourself and tell us in few words your own career ?
I got into music back in 1989 when I was 16 years old and borrowed my bigger brother’s guitar and formed a band with two friends of mine. Then in 1990 I really got into music while forming Forlorn with Daniel Bryntse, Forlorn which later became Isole. We were both huge fans of Candlemass and Bathory and these two acts took us into the world of DOOM!
What are your own favorite styles and influences ?
My influences comes from all sorts of sad and melancholic music. Everything from melancholic pop music to black metal I guess.
What can you tell about the band ?
As I mentioned the band was formed back in 1990 by Daniel and myself and we did lots of demos during the nineties. But we had some big problems with rehearsal rooms and line-up changes so the band went into hibernation between 1996 and 2004 except for some times when we met up to do some recording of songs that we had written. And as some of you might know we got a record deal in 2005 and since then we have a steady line-up with Daniel Bryntse, Jonas Lindström, Henrik Lindenmo and myself.
When it comes to favourite styles and influence we differ a bit from each other, we kind of pull Isole in different directions and I think that is a good thing. Jonas is more into death and black metal, Daniel has lots of Death metal in his blood and I listens softer music while Henrik is an old school black and thrash freak but of course we are all into Doom Metal since this is the music we perform.
Wich artist you work with or you worked with impress you the most ?
The guys in Isole of course, they are magnificent.
What about your promotion work and your relation with press at the moment ? Do you get a good feed back about your new album ?
Napalm handles all our promotion and think they are doing a great job, we have finally reached out to the whole metal world.
I think the feedback for “Silent Ruins” has been overwhelming so far.
What’s the mood of it ? What would you say to make people listen to it and buy it ?
It’s a doom metal album so it is kind of dark, but I believe this is a varied album for being a doom metal album. If I would describe us in a short sentence I would say: Varied, heavy and dark epic doom with clean harmony vocals.
Where do you find your inspiration for music and lyrics ?
From everywhere, it’s impossible to put my finger on it. We all listen to many kinds of music and of course you might be influenced by everything you like. When it comes to lyrics we are often dealing with real life happenings or historical events.
What’s your favorite new track ? Why ?
"From the Dark" is my personal favorite because it has all these twists and turns. This particular song contains so many different elements and it is really complex.
Do you think you will bring something new in music with your new cd ?
Well, I think it’s hard to bring something new in to the world of music. But I believe we have our own sound and that’s a good thing.
Will you be touring soon and what can the audience expect from you on stage ?
We did an European tour in April this year and we will visit Sweden, Finland and Spain later this year. And we are still working on doing yet another tour but I can’t reveal anything at the moment.
You should expect an energetic doom concert, lots of energy lots of atmosphere.
I wish you a big success with your new album !
